Floors

Depending on the types of floors you have in your kitchen the cleaning process will be different, but regardless of the type of flooring, your kitchen floors will likely be grimy. Grease builds up on your floors and you need to clean them properly in order to remove the grease. A great way to cut through the grease is to create your own floor cleaner using white vinegar, liquid dish soap, washing soda, and warm water. This combination can help leave your floors looking as good as new! You may not want to use this on your floors if they are waxed.

Tiles

Whether you have tile flooring in the kitchen or tile countertops, the grout can begin to look dirty and dingy quickly. No matter how often you clean, it can be difficult to make the grout look any cleaner. There are a few tricks you can use to help keep the grout looking clean and new. All you will need is baking soda, cleaning vinegar, and something to scrub with (a toothbrush works great). Pour the baking soda over the grout and spray the cleaning vinegar on the baking soda. Let the mixture fiz for a few minutes before scrubbing. The dirt and grime should easily come off, leaving your tile looking as good as new. If you wait too long to start scrubbing, the dirt could settle back in, so be sure not to let it sit for more than a few minutes.

Tight Spaces

In a kitchen, there are a lot of tight spaces, including between the countertops and the stove and behind the sink. These areas can be hard to clean, which means they continue to collect debris and grime over time. While these messy areas may not be extremely noticeable, eventually, cleaning these areas is a good idea. To get these hard to reach places, create a tool that is easy and effective to use.

Here is one idea that we love: use a wet towel and a butter knife. You can wrap the towel around the end of the butter knife, or fold it over so that it is thin enough to fit in the crevices. You can spray the dirty spots with cleaning products before sticking the towel in the crack and using the knife to move the towel along the gap. This will clean the area and save you from having to move the entire range. You can use the same tool to clean the area behind the sink as well!

Window Treatments

Like the cabinets and floors in your kitchen, the window treatments are likely to suffer from grease debris that is floating around your kitchen regularly. Plus, curtains and blinds that are hung about your kitchen sink are also likely to come in contact with water and soap splashes from time to time, which can leave stains and make dust collect in splotches. Cleaning your window treatments can help your kitchen look and feel cleaner.

To clean your curtains, simply remove them and throw them in the washing machine, if they are machine washable. If they are not machine washable, you can take them down and wash them in the sink with some soap and spot treatment if needed. Let them dry out before hanging them back up. You will definitely notice a difference!

Dusting blinds can be a hassle, but it can make all the difference. Make dusting your blinds simple by using microfiber cloths and some tongs! We suggest you invest in some microfiber cloth rather than using an old t-shirt or socks, since microfiber cloth will pick up the dust. Wrap a cloth around each side of the tongs and use rubber bands to keep them in place. Use the tongs to pinch each blade of the blinds and dust both sides at once! This is a quick and effective way to dust your blinds.

Stay Organized

This might not be a cleaning hack, per se, but we think that it is one of the best and easiest ways to keep your kitchen looking clean and help maintain the clean room. When you organize your kitchen, you can remove clutter from the countertops, keep the cabinets in order, and help the flow of your kitchen. Even organizing the fridge can help keep your kitchen looking and feeling cleaner. Take time to organize your cabinets, drawers, pantry, and fridge. Not only will this make daily life easier, but it will also help your family find what they need and know where to put things away, which will keep counters clear of junk and other spaces in your kitchen clean.
